The birth of Jesus Christ is commemorated and celebrated by people all over the world. We discuss nativity as it is described in the holy texts with our families, but have you ever thought whether there may be more to the well-known tale? What can we learn from the birth of our Savior?

Gifts and presents that we want to give to our friends and family come to mind when we think of Christmas. Of course, we want to get what we desire as well. We should all remember that Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, is the greatest gift we received as the children of our Heavenly Father.

One of my favourite scripture that teaches us about the greatest gift is ' For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.'1

We read that Joseph and his wife Mary travelled from Galilee to Bethlehem, the city of David. The days leading up to her delivery. After giving birth, she swaddled her firstborn Son and placed him in a manger. Since the inn was full and had no space for them, if he had been born in the palace, it would have been simple for people to think that he is the Messiah. Christ went through the same things that we all do in life. He is aware of our struggles, both yours and mine. If we can open our hearts to him, that is, if we spend our lives as He did, he has promised us eternal life.

We read, 'And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.' 2 They had a Heavenly experience, and I think they did not wait but immediately. 'And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.' 3 They were the first missionaries to proclaim the birth of our Savior. Jesus said, 'Ye are the light of the world' Our prophet gave us an invitation ', Light The World'. It is an invitation to transform Christmas into a season of service.

Thirdly, after following the star and entering the home, the wise men prostrate themselves in front of the baby and his mother. After opening their riches, they displayed gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We can demonstrate our shattered hearts and humble spirit. We must confess our sins and give up everything impeding our progress as Christ's disciples.

May we all have a wonderful Christ-centered Christmas with our family and friends and share the light with others. I know that Jesus Christ Lives; He will come again, and this time everyone will see his glory and know him. Jesus is the divine Son of the living God, and let's make this Christmas memorable by doing something for Him.
