Word of Wisdom is a blessing

During my 39 years in Dubai, I worked for a shipping company under sponsorship, where I served as sales personnel. Part of my daily routine involved visiting at least five clients, and each visit came with an offer of coffee or tea. Feeling it would be rude to refuse, I found myself accepting these offers and eventually drinking up to 11 cups a day. You could say I became quite addicted.

However, learning about the Word of Wisdom, I was able to overcome this addiction almost immediately. This experience has been a profound blessing in my life. I truly believe that the Word of Wisdom is a commandment from God, and I feel His protection in my life every day. At 66 years old, I’ve been spared from common ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol—ailments that often come with age and that many of my friends and relatives now suffer from.

Some of my friends and relatives have ridiculed me for giving up tea and coffee, but I’ve remained strong in my commitment to this principle. I’ve also been able to give up certain drinks that I used to consume on special occasions, and I’ve developed the strength to refuse them no matter the situation. My testimony of the Word of Wisdom is a blessing. I know it is from our Heavenly Father, and I’m grateful to Him and to Jesus Christ for the many blessings they have showered upon me and my family.

I also recognize that our salvation is a gift of grace, and I’ve learned that an attitude of gratitude becomes even more meaningful when it’s used as a bridge to reach out to those in need. I know this Church is true. I know that the teaching of the Church come from God, and that He chooses our prophets. We are blessed to have a living prophet who guides and leads us.
