Navigating this virtual world with spiritual eyes

Our branch meets online since the members are spread throughout Northern India. Having online church meetings even after the COVID-19 pandemic felt unusual and was a bit different for me because I live away from my family as I am pursuing my higher studies along with two other friends who come from different religious backgrounds.

I found myself asking how I could have the spirit in my apartment. I prayed and felt inspired to make a few changes to transform my apartment room into a sanctuary of faith.

1.The Lord said, 'Mine house is a house of order' (Doctrine & Covenants 132:8). It was important to keep my room clean. Saturday became my preparation day on which I declutter, organize, iron my Sunday attire, complete church assignments, and reset for the next week.

2.I realized that to feel the spirit on Sunday, I needed to prepare myself throughout the week. Reading scriptures, praying, being kind and loving to my roommates, and avoiding any activities that could drive the spirit away helps me feel closer to the Lord throughout the week.

3.On Sunday mornings, I get ready while playing hymns. Hymns help create a spiritual atmosphere, inviting the spirit and fostering a sense of connection with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

4.Wearing my Sunday best attire to show respect and reverence, and participating actively during church meetings helps me maintain reverence during Zoom meetings.

I am grateful that I get to use technology in a way that helps me grow closer to the Lord. The things I strive to do each week aren't that big, but they are certainly impactful because I know my relationship with the Lord has strengthened and my testimony is even stronger now.

In the digital age, my faith is not a liability but my strength. As I navigate this virtual world with spiritual eyes, it helps me remember that my ultimate connection is with my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
