Let God Prevail in our lives

Keep your eyes on your dreams, however distant and far away.” 1 Since my childhood, I have always dreamed of becoming a doctor. It was hard to get admission to the medical college due to arduous entrance exams and high fees. After my higher secondary, I had difficulty preparing for the entrance exams as there were no opportunities and covid was at its peak.

I struggled to work on my dream but decided not to give up at any cost. People around me said that I was wasting my years and that it would never come back again. I was discouraged and disappointed. One fine day, the full-time volunteers of our church in the branch suggested I pray for the Lord’s plan for my future. Unfortunately, I was nervous and a little scared to pray as I was worried about whether the answer may be controversial to my plan and dream. Despite worries, I prayed fervently and listened to the general conference talks.

Unexpectedly I received an answer to my plea to the Lord as I listened to the words of our beloved Prophet, “As you choose to let God prevail in your lives, you will experience for yourselves that our God is a God of miracles.” 2. This counsel helped me to rely on the Lord’s will. Though my marks in the recent exam did not satisfy the requirement to get admission to MBBS, I was prompted to fast and pray. I recalled the scripture, “Stay alert and pray so that you won’t give in to temptation. The spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak.” 3. As I fasted, I received great comfort and realised that prayer and fast- ing are very powerful. I am a plant lover and have more interest in studying about it, which inspired me to take BAMS – Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, which deals with ancient Ayurvedic medicine. Within a short time, I got admission, which made me save huge hard-earned money for my parents. It was worth waiting to let the Lord’s will happen in His time, which blessed me.

This experience nourishes my testimony of fasting and prayer; I have learned to trust in Him and His timing. If the Lord wants me to do it, no matter what it is, I can do it. I understood that putting God and His will in our lives will be a great experience to gain a testimony of being faithful at all times.
