And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that: “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God.” 1 Recently, I was part of my stake service project, where we all gathered at a nursing home to clean their surroundings. To do this, we all took different instruments and started our work. While we were doing this, I recalled one of my training sessions when I was serving as a full-time missionary, where I learned that the Lord would use us as instruments to accomplish His work. 2
President M. Russell Ballard said, 'When it comes right down to it, people are quite similar. We may come from different backgrounds, cultures, and economic circumstances, and our attitudes and perspectives may vary. But in the heart—where it really counts—we're a lot alike. Yes, that is true when it counts in the hearts we are all same.”3 Even though my mission companions were from different places with different talents, I saw how the Lord helped us gather His elect people. I experienced the same today, as we all had different instruments in our hands, and they helped us in finishing our task.
In this activity, I experienced one more thing: I saw a sister and a brother who tried their best to fix our broken instruments, which helped me to realise even the Lord is willing to heal us and make us better when we are broken.
In the end, we have finished our work together with a great spirit of love towards our fellow neighbors4, same like that day 'Imagine what good we can do in the world if we all join together, united as followers of Christ, anxiously and busily responding to the needs of others and serving those around us—our families, our friends, our neighbours, our fellow citizens.'5
If we desire to be instruments in the hands of the Lord, He will grant us accordingly His will. Finally, we left the place with spiritual remarks from Stake Leaders, which motivated me to go and do good continually.
