I was born into a Catholic family. In 2012 my friend told me about this Church. I decided to learn about the doctrine and be baptized. After 6 years I decided to go on mission but it was very difficult for me because my family were not members of the Church and they didn't allow me to go on a mission. It was my desire to serve a mission and with the help of God I convinced them. They agreed to send me on mission for 2 years because in John 15:15 it says, “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
When I received my call my MTC date was 10 August but the mission president said, “You will start your mission two months before your MTC date.” I said, “Okay,” but I was very tense because I didn’t know what to do and how I could manage starting earlier. One night I was studying The Book of Mormon and I read 1 Nephi 3:7. I said, “If God chooses me he makes a way for me.”
On 7 June 2018 I started my mission without attending the MTC. I started learning from my companion. He helped me and I started teaching people. I taught many people and brought them into the Church. After 10 months I went to the MTC not for training only but for my endowment.
Before I went to the MTC, my mother was very sick with diabetes. When I heard that her diabetics level was very high, I decided one night to go back home. I decided that in the morning I would tell my mission president that I wanted to go back. I prayed and started reading the scriptures. When I opened D&C 31 I saw:
1 Thomas, my son, blessed are you because of your faith in my work.
2 Behold, you have had many afflictions because of your family; nevertheless, I will bless you and your family, yea, your little ones; and the day cometh that they will believe and know the truth and be one with you in my church.
These scriptures give me strength and I decided to continue my mission. God blessed my mother and she got her diabetic level under control. I know if God chose me for his work that he would bless me and my family. After that I baptized many new people and brought them into the kingdom of the Lord. I realized that if I had gone back home, I could not have brought these souls into his presence. I know I helped to build the kingdom of the Lord.
I think the Lord trusted that I didn't need any training because God was with me and he helped me always. I served a mission without training.
I know God is my Father. I know Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of Heavenly Father who atoned for us and brings us back into the presence of God. I know the Holy Ghost is a third member of the Godhead and our constant companion. He always protects us from upcoming danger. I know the Church is true. I know The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ because I read it and asked Heavenly Father in Jesus’ name to tell me this book is true. He gave me an answer through the Holy Ghost. I know that Russell M. Nelson is a living prophet who receives revelation from God for this modern day.
