The Bible Dictionary says, “The word gospel means good news. The good news is that Jesus Christ has made a perfect atonement for mankind that will redeem all mankind from the grave and reward each individual according to his/ her works.”
I believe in Christ and His Atonement. The Book of Mormon reminds us that “there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ” (Helaman 5:9). Through the Atonement of Christ which includes His sufferings in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, Christ helped us to overcome the obstacles of sin and death. Now when we sincerely repent, we can receive God’s forgiveness because of His grace and mercy and when we die, we are given the free gift of resurrection. The blessings of the Atonement of Christ are for all mankind who have lived, who are currently living and who will yet live on this earth.
I am grateful for Christ’s unconditional love (Romans 5:8). Jesus descended below all things that he might lift us up. He understands all our pain, sicknesses, anxieties, griefs, losses, injustice, loneliness and much more. We need to heed to our Saviour’s words and lay our burdens on Him that we may get rest. We are given the privilege to remember the Atonement of Jesus Christ every day as we prepare every hour to partake of the sacrament that week. Taking the name of Christ is to apply the power of His Atonement in our lives and to see God’s hand in all things.
