For Many Are Called, But Few Are Chosen

Sister Yadla is currently serving in India Bangalore Mission.

I am grateful to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for choosing me for this marvelous work. I feel blessed that I am chosen to do this sacred work. When I received the call to serve my mission, I felt Christ speaking these words to me “… I have chosen you, and ordained you.” 1

As a missionary, I am learning to overcome many challenges that I face each day; I am learning to choose the right even when it is challenging. All these experiences are preparing me for my bright future. I have so much peace even in these difficult times because I know that the Savior loves me. I love the promise mentioned in the scriptures, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” 2 has come true many times as I am serving my mission. As I exercise faith in the Lord, I see miracles. I am experiencing God’s love through simple things that He has been helping me to accomplish each day. These daily accomplishments teach me that sincere prayer, trust in the Lord, and giving my best efforts are the things that I need to do to see God’s hands perform this sacred work. I know that God gave us commandments so that we can become better; as we obey them, we will be blessed. Each time I feel it is difficult to obey one of the commandments, I think of prophet Nephi from the Book of Mormon, where it is mentioned that “… the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” 3 My mission is helping me to trust in the Lord’s timing with faith through actions. Faith without works is dead, as taught by Apostle James in the second chapter.

Our Redeemer lives! We can all go back to the kingdom of our loving Heavenly Father only through Christ, and the way is by following His Gospel. The Bible and The Book of Mormon testify about Jesus Christ, we have a living prophet, and I belong to a true and a living church. I pray and hope that many young adults will make a choice to experience happiness and joy by doing this marvelous work.
