I Feel Closer To The Saviour

I feel closer to the Saviour when, I do things which please my Lord. Teaching and attending seminary and adult religion classes has become a regular practice besides my everyday routine. I attend the adult religion class regularly, but attending the classes as a mother of two children was hard sometimes. But, the online class during covid made it possible for me to attend, I attend every week, wherever I will be and whatever my situation is. Attending these classes gave me more knowledge and strengthened my testimony.

The class members enjoyed doing diverse types of tasks given by the teacher. This allowed many to find out their hidden talents and express appreciation for the talents of others. I am reminded of a wonderful quote by an Apostle, “As we follow the Saviour, He blesses us with gifts, talents and the strength to do His will, allowing us to go beyond our comfort zones and do things we’ve never before thought possible”1. I testify that each of us has been blessed with time and talents to bless our lives and others.

Once, the teacher gave an interesting task on a particular week. We were asked to draw a picture of the atonement of Jesus Christ and share our thoughts on the same; the lesson was focused on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I enjoy drawing as a science student, but I have never tried drawing a picture of a human in any form. Instead, I tried drawing the picture of the Saviour after a fervent prayer as I thought that the outcome should bring reverence and love. I was keen on doing the task since I would not draw a normal person but rather the redeemer of all humanity. Additionally, I gained a powerful testimony that each of us is gifted with talents and using them to build the Lord’s kingdom is what the Lord expects us to do. The best thing was that I did not use the eraser till I completed my drawing, which made me feel the spirit. The group members appreciated me when I posted the final drawing in the group, which allowed me to identify my talent. The picture looked more vibrant after I coloured the shawl in red. However, I could not complete it perfectly, even after several attempts. This experience gives me an understanding that the Lord will always give us talent, time, tasks, and strength within our ability.
