As we approach the Easter celebrations, we should ponder and make some resolutions to develop Christ-like attributes. This is the time of understanding the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
How do we develop Christ-like attributes?
Ask some important questions like:
- As an angry father, how will I change my attitude through the Atonement?
- As a mother, how can I help my children learn and understand the great Atonement of Jesus Christ and follow his example?
- As
asons and daughters, how can we follow the Savior and be part of the blessings of the great Atonement? - As a priesthood bearer, how can we be more holy and follow His example and serve Him with all our heart, might, mind and strength?
- Can we all be honest in our dealings with our fellow man? Can we repent of our sins and reconcile with the Lord?
- Are we worthy of Hi
sforgiveness and His blessings?
Like these, there are many questions we all can ask ourselves and find answers even through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. In the book of Alma, chapter 5, we find a series of questions, if we have answer for all the questions we are on the Lord’s side.
In the book of Alma, chapter 34, verse 9, Amulek explains clearly the importance of the Atonement. If there was no Atonement made, then our life will be meaningless and no hope for any change. He says “All mankind must unavoidably perish”. The savior did suffer so much in the garden of Gethsemane and prayed to our Father in Heaven for all of us. Eventually, he sacrificed his own life for us even on the cross.
How can we all show our love and gratitude to our Savior? Jesus Christ our Lord said in a simple statement “Keep my commandments”. This is the only way we all can understand His Atonement. This is the way we all can show that we love Him and want to be his disciples. This is the way we all can move forward the work of the Lord. As the Savior had counseled us “Therefore, I would that ye should be perfect even as I ...” (3 Nephi 12: 48)
I love Jesus Christ and grateful for His great Atonement. Because of His Atonement, We all have hope and endure till the end. Then we all can return back to our Father in Heaven. I testify these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
