All the members were excited when the Church was opened for Sunday meetings. As Bishopric, we started visiting all the families in the ward to ensure they come to Church every Sunday because, till then, we have been doing virtual meetings. While we were praying to seek help from the Lord on how we can assist members to attend Church regularly and, more importantly, to help them increase their Testimony. The Lord inspired us to extend an invitation to all the members in our ward to study the Book of Mormon. As we all have many challenges and unanswered questions in our lives, we knew studying the Book of Mormon would help us draw closer to God; through this, they can receive answers to their prayers. We believed in the promise of our beloved prophet, “I promise that as you ponder what you study [in the Book of Mormon], the windows of heaven will open, and you will receive answers to your own questions and direction for your own life.”[1] What a marvellous Prophetic promise!
Sister Neelam Lakshmi said, “By reading the Book of Mormon and pondering the scriptures, I have received my Testimony of the restored Gospel and am assured by the spirit that this book is true. From 2 Nephi 22:2, I have received the great assurance that the Lord Jehovah is my salvation and strength. When I trust Him, there is no need to be afraid in this worldly life. And I felt God has a plan not only for my family and me but for every person on this earth, and He is merciful towards us. This has encouraged me to be a kind person and serve others selflessly.
Due to my family situation or other reasons, I could not attend Church regularly. However, I have prioritized reading the Book of Mormon and Bible every day, wherever I am and how busy my day might get. Doing this allows me to stay stronger in the Gospel and feel closer to the Lord. I know He loves me so much; that is why He atoned for my sins and prepared a way to return to Him.
I have seen a miracle happening in my life every time I finish reading the Book of Mormon. I know God loves us so much; that is why He has blessed us with the scriptures to understand His love is the same yesterday, today and forever. I know the Book of Mormon is a true word of God. I am grateful to my Bishopric, who extended this invitation to all of us.
