Raising our children spiritually is not only a responsibility but also a privilege. As a mother, I am privileged to teach my son Morvin about the gospel. Being a mother brings in a lot of responsibilities, especially during this COVID time. I ensure that we spend quality time reading the Book of Mormon story book every day before bed and “Come Follow Me” after which we share our insights. We enjoy reading it together. This has helped him to increase his gospel knowledge.
Primary classes and assignments are helping him stay in the Lord's path. In one of the assignments, his Primary teacher advised him to be a missionary for a day. He loved that assignment. He wore the nametag and shared the gospel with a few people that he spoke to on that day. That assignment inspired him to become a missionary someday.
He always shows his commitment to whatever he learns. His fasting has helped improve the family situations and his humble prayer has chased sickness from home. He has a greater testimony of Jesus Christ and his Atonement. I know Jesus Christ was crucified for the sins of his people. I remember in one Family Home Evening when I taught how to live on this earth to attain eternal life and about celestial, terrestrial and telestial glories. He felt the spirit so strong and at the conclusion, I could see tears in those tiny eyes. He said, “Amma I'm so sorry for not obeying you. Will the Lord forgive me? I want to live only in Celestial glory.” I thanked God for giving him a great understanding of the gospel. All this knowledge prepared him well when we went to the temple. He knows that temples are houses of the Lord. He is waiting to go inside the temple someday.
One of my favorite quotes says, 'The more surely you rear your children in the ways of the gospel of Jesus Christ, with love and high expectations, the more likely that there will be peace in their lives.'1. I bear witness of this firmly as I am eternally grateful to the Lord for blessing me with such an understanding son. He has been a great blessing to our family. I thank God for giving me this gospel in my life so it can bless my son's life as I teach him this true gospel.
