“Whether it’s a family member, a friend, a neighbor or someone you’ve never even met, together we can Light the World with love.”
Hyderabad India Stake Young Men and Young Women leaders organized a service project of assembling hygiene kits for a disabled home in Hyderabad. This activity was done with the light the world theme of serving with love. The leaders were inspired to make the youth learn to serve the needy.
The season of giving was the right time. As the young men and young women gathered, there was an excitement and a desire to serve those in need with love. The activity was held in the Hyderabad Stake Center on a Sunday evening from 4pm7pm. The organization needed 350 hygiene kits.
Many youths, despite having their term examinations, made a choice to spend some time to serve the Lord. A choice to serve the Lord was a priority as they knew it would be a blessing for them and bring joy to many lives. As King Benjamin beautifully mentioned in Mosiah 2:17 “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” All of them felt the spirit of giving as they served God.
The youth felt good. They said even though it was tiring to put together so many boxes they knew it was worth it. They felt good that after a long time they all gathered and worked together, and that they could help others in need. They all were grateful for the opportunity that was given to them. Sister Pratyusha Vaddi, Stake Young Women President said, “I have been deeply touched and motivated by seeing the youth come together to pack essential kits for the needy. As a young women leader, I wanted the young women to learn the importance of giving and gifting others as the Savior did. This activity has been such a big help to teach them that there is more joy in serving others.”
